Flatbush Farm Share is increasing access to healthy food and needs your help
Flatbush Farm Share is a volunteer-run, Brooklyn-based Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) project, distributing fresh produce directly from local farms. Flatbush Farm Share is special because we serve low income earners by offering subsidized shares to members below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. The Farm Share maximizes affordability through a sliding scale price structure, installment plan options, and by accepting EBT (Food Stamps).
Poor nutrition is a leading cause of obesity and other diet-related ailments, and making sure New Yorkers have access to healthy food helps build strong communities and a vibrant economy. In Flatbush, almost 11 % of residents face food insecurity, and a majority of these residents are children. We are committed to making healthy options available to all New Yorkers, regardless of income. We offer subsidized membership to low-income households, but we depend on donations in order to do so. A donation directly helps low income Flatbush families move beyond the food pantry and soup kitchen to healthier and more empowering food options.
Our primary funding comes from the New York City Coalition Against Hunger.
