Another rainy evening proved no problem at distribution, as we set up comfortably on the porch. The tomato excitement continues with two kinds beautifully represented in this week’s share, both heirloom and beefsteak, plus the tomato cook off set up by Kristin through a kind tomato donation from our farmer. We also got lots more: red peppers, beets, radishes, red onions, collard greens, mixed salad greens, and parsley. Extra shares included coffee, ginger gold apples and peaches.
In celebration of Kirstin’s birthday, we all also enjoyed wonderful chocolate cake and other goodies We all enjoyed your birthday, Kirstin, and hope you did too–happy birthday! Thank you to all the volunteers, who cheerfully shared scales, and to Elizabeth and Anne, our farmers from Breezy Hill, who paid us a visit and spoke with many members. Big thanks also to Cole from T.B. Ackerson Wine Merchants on Cortelyou Road who added some sparkle to the birthday celebration with samples of some great sauvignon blanc.
Enjoy the harvest!
