Hello Fellow Farm Share People!
Another beautiful summer evening for distribution, without last week’s heat! This week our veggies all came in super green: cucumbers, swiss chard, zucchini, arugula, Italian parsley, lettuce, and impressively fragrant fennel that had everyone talking. We’ll be needing lots of newsletter recipes for fennel, a new crop in the 2010 share. The theme for extra shares was red: sour cherries, raspberries, and sweet red pepper shells. To top it all off, we got our first coffee delivery.
A big thank you to all the volunteers for bearing with Mike and me as we got through our first site-coordinating night without Belinda (we missed you Belinda!). Another big thank you to the member who showed up with a bike plus attached trailer and got recruited to help our composter Laura carry all those bags of stored veggies to their new home!
Finally, a special thank you to Ji-hye Choi of Third Root who gave a great talk on acupuncture, complete with samples and brochures.
Happy veggies and happy 4th of July everyone!
