It was another beautiful day for distribution on the lawn of the Grey House. This week’s vegetables included summer squash, zucchini, green beans, green kale, lettuce, dill, eggplant, and the prettiest cabbage I ever saw. I was thrilled to welcome our newest site coordinators, Marie and Leigh Anne, and am happy to have them join the site team! Thanks to both of you and to last night’s volunteers for all your hard work throughout the distribution hours.
We were happy to have lots of blueberries and eggs available to make up for last week’s delivery mishap. Remember you can easily freeze blueberries for future use if you are concerned about using all of them quickly enough. Fruit shareholders can look forward to more fresh fruit like peaches and plums in the coming weeks, as more summer fruits become ready to be picked.
I want to remind everyone that next Thursday, July 23 is our first community potluck! It will be from 6-9 on the lawn in front of the Grey House, or inside the auditorium in case of rain. Please plan to join your fellow farm share members–it’ll be a great chance to meet other people who appreciate great fresh vegetables and support local farming–just like you! Send a note to events [at] flatbushfarmshare [dot] com with questions, to list your dish, or to sign up to help out on the day of the potluck.
See you next time,
